La Vida Dominicana

In April, Trey and I vacationed for a week in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was fantastic! Lots of sun, too many pina coladas (just kidding–one can never have too many!) and fresh fish every night. The resort was gorgeous. We stayed at the Grande Bahia Principe Bavaro and I couldn’t recommend it more. We took a few photos, but for the most part we didn’t use any technology. It was six days of no internet, no phone calls, no email, nothing. I found it so refreshing to put down all of our worries about work and life and live in the present–just the two of us–for six days. Surprisingly, it wasn’t hard to do.
IMG_0862Favorite bathing suit I’ve ever owned. <3 Never thought I’d enjoy wearing a high-neck top (partly because I was wary of a weird tan) but no crazy tan tattoo appeared. Stylish, pretty, comfortable, and different.

This row of shacks a few miles from our resort sold tons of souvenirs, rum, and cigars. The water came right up to the steps.

For anybody contemplating a trip to Punta Cana, I wholly recommend getting away from the resort for a day and hiring a car to take you to Macao Beach (above). It’s the local beach with very few tourists. Fisherman pull snapper, lobster and octopus in from the ocean right in front of you, and a shack at the very end of the beach will fry up a catch of your choice at a fair price. Our day at Macao drinking Presidente beer for $1.50 was by far my favorite day. So ready to go back. :D
